PRESS RELEASE: Wafer Messenger Promises Users Absolute Privacy

Wafer Messenger promises users Absolute Privacy following a statement in regards to user privacy on their blog in February 2018, as well as last week Wafer Messenger announces that "Absolute Privacy" will become the company’s third pillar.

User privacy has been a core value of Wafer since its inception in 2015 and the official app launch in September 2017. While considered the norm at first, recent events have made it necessary to highlight Wafer’s unwavering dedication to the complete privacy of their users. This is the reason why Wafer is introducing "Absolute Privacy" as their third pillar alongside "Endless Creativity" and "Limitless Reach". In practice this means no spying, no data mining, no ad pushing as well as giving users the ability to delete messages and accounts at any time.

Social media giant Facebook has recently come under intense scrutiny after it came to light that consulting firm Cambridge Analytica had gained access to millions of profiles without their knowledge. Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has since testified to Congress. While the public is coming to realize that Facebook may be unable to protect their privacy, it must also be highlighted that WhatsApp has received hefty fines for violating privacy rules, and that many in the industry carry out data mining practices on their unknowing users for commercial purposes. But not Wafer.

“We live in a world of uncertainty and growing mistrust of social media and messaging platforms. This is why we want to remind and assure our current and future users that we have always honored, and will continue to honor, our promise to protect their privacy”, founder and CEO Simone La Torre says. “Two months ago we changed our logo from a ‘W’ to a crown; not because we think we are the kings or queens of messaging apps, but because we give absolute power to our users in terms of creativity, reach, and privacy”.
